Chlorine stabilizer or conditioner (cyanuric acid) is used, in outdoor chlorine swimming pools, to prevent the chlorine from being destroyed by the sun's ultra-violet rays.

A range of 60 - 80 ppm is considered ideal.

Higher levels, above 150 ppm,  begin to reduce the effectiveness of chlorine.
