Free Chlorine (residual chlorine) is the amount of chlorine in the pool that can sanitize or disinfect the water. Free chlorine works to kill bacteria and oxidize contaminants. When you introduce chlorine to water, you are adding free chlorine.
Low Chlorine
Low chlorine can result in the growth of algae and bacteria, cloudy water and diminished sanitizing ability.
High Chlorine
High chlorine levels can irritate the eyes, nose and skin.
The desired free chlorine level should be 1.0 - 3.0 ppm
