MEASURING TIPS, FLAPS AND STRAPS
Measuring in General
All measurements should be submitted in inches. Never round up or down to the nearest foot. Rounding up to the next inch is always better, unless you are placing your cover inside an exact confined area. For an above-ground spa measure from the outside edge of the acrylic.

Reminder: All covers are custom made and the time spent taking accurate measurements is time well spent!

We are always glad to help in any way if you have questions or difficulty determining you covers measurements.

Templates
If your spa is a free form shape such as kidney design or other, you may find measuring for a new cover a little challenging. If you know the year, model and manufacturer, we can usually determine from records the correct size and shape. However if you have no way of determining that information, than the best course of action is to use a template.

Directions for use:

1. Place a clear 5 ml plastic tarp over the entire spa. Drawing the tarp tight and even all around to present a smooth and uniform surface.

2. Using a sharpie pen trace and outline the shape and size of the spa cover. Usually it works best if you use the outside edge of the acrylic  as your guide.

3. Indicate the top side of the template by writing the word TOP in several places. Place the template in a box and ship it to us at:

Reminder: Don't forget to include your contact information in the box.

It is critical that your drawing is accurate because the cover will be made according to the template provided.
Spa Covers in a Gazebo
Whenever a spa cover is installed inside a gazebo you should take into consideration the way the cover will sit and the way it will open and close.

The cover should be large enough to cover the spa but small enough to fit inside the gazebo.

Ensure when ordering your new cover that you will be able to open and close it freely. Generally if your old cover fits and you measure it accurately this should not be a problem.
The Hinge (Fold) of the Cover
The hinge of the cover often referred to as the fold or cut is the point at wich two sections of a cover are stiched together. It is important to indicate on your order form which way you want the cover to fold, along the long side or the short side.

The short side is used most often and is consided the standard.
Examples of both follow.
Is it an Octagon or Square with Cut Corners?

Hinge along short side of cover
Knowing the difference between an octagon and a square with cut corners, and which one you have, is extremely important.

Octagons:   An octagon has eight equal sides. By measuring length, width and just one of the eight equal sides you will have accurately measured the cover.

Square w/Cut Corners:  A square with cut corners is just that. A square and the cut corners may or may not be of the same size. You should measure length, width and all of the cut corners to determine proper size.
Measuring the Radius of a Round Corner
STANDARD
When measuring a spa cover with rounded corners it is important to determine the corner's radius. This measurement is crucial with regard to the correct size and cut of the cover.

The length of an imaginary straight line from where the curve begins to where it intersects with the other imaginary line is the radius of the corner.
To further assist you with determining the radius of the corner click on the Radius of Cover Link.
Determining the Proper Length of Flap/Skirt
The flap also known as the skirt, is the overhanging side of the spa cover. The flap helps to trap heat and prevent dirt from entering the spa.

If the spa has a raised edge or lip it is highly recommended to order a cover with a flap. The flap should be the same length as the lip of the spa. The standard flap, unless otherwise specified, is 3".

If the spa is flush with a deck or brickwork, a flap would only cause problems as the cover would not lie flat. Normally you should not order a spa cover with flaps if the lip is flush.
The flap/skirt will normally be made as a continuous run around the radius unless otherwise specified. If needed, a slit made in the middle of the radius will enable the flap to lie flatter as opposed to bunching up.
"Sure-Loc" Locking Tie Downs w/Key, 2 Each Standard
The spa cover comes standard with two locking straps. More straps can be added if necessary. The locking mechanism is a Twist Loc style that comes with a key for added safety.
The locks come with 3 wood screws each, to be able to attach them to the side of the spa.

Up to 4 locks can be added at no extra charge. Indicate on the order form the desired location of the locks if requesting something other than standard quantities and placement
