Salt (sodium chloride) used with an automatic chlorinating system will produce chlorine.
Always use the type of salt recommended for chlorine generator systems.
Do not use rock salt or conditioner salt.
The sodium chloride is added directly to the pool and through electrolysis the salt is converted into chlorine.
In a closed system, such as a poo,l the salt is used over and over again and is lost only through splash out, carry out, backwashing, and rainfall.
The proper range for salt may vary between different automated chlorinating systems. The average range is 2800 - 3300 ppm
