Total Dissolved Solids includes anything present in water other than pure water and suspended solids.TDS is the measure of all soluble substances dissolved in water such as minerals, salts and metals.
The recommended maximum TDS level for a swimming pool should be 1500 ppm. If you have a chlorine generator the salt in the pool will dramatically increase your TDS level reading. This needs to taken into account when testing the TDS level on a salt pool.
Pools with values above 1500 ppm can have cloudy water, scaling, staining and hard water.
The only way to reduce TDS levels effectively is to drain and refill the pool.
