Maintaining The Proper Water Level In Your Pool

The Predicted heavy rains of this years’ El Nino, appear to be upon us. With the heavy rains the chances of pools overflowing increases dramatically.

It is never a good situation when this occurs and in some cases it can be devastating. By installing a hose bib in the equipment plumbing and attaching a garden hose you will be ready to easily drain your pool back to the normal level when needed.

How to use a hose bib to maintain proper water level.

Step 1: Attach a standard garden hose to the bib and set hose to desired draining point.

Step 2: Turn the pump on.

Step 3: Open the hose bib

Step 4: Monitor the water level closely and close the hose bib when the appropriate level has been reached.

Step 5: Once the bib is closed it is safe to turn off the pump.

Special Notes:

Water level should be maintained at the halfway point of the skimmer opening. Do not leave the pool unattended while draining.

The hose bib should NEVER be used for attempting to drain the pool down below the skimmer opening. If the pool is drained down below the skimmer you run the risk of having the pump run dry, over heat and potentially cause catastrophic damage to the pump.
