Last month the world witnessed Team USA make history during the Ryder Cup with the most dominate victory in professional team golf history. Drawing inspiration from Dustin Johnson and Jon Rahm, Team Kohler decided to exercise our competitive muscles and hit the links.

Well, the mini-links at least. Located near the racetrack in Del Mar, Pelly's Mini-Golf was the perfect stage for an inter-squad scrimmage that pit Kohler's newest team additions against its longest tenured members. Much like the US Ryder cup team made of mainly rookies taking on Europe's elder statesmen. However, the result was far from the same.

At the onset of our round we had not yet decided the format for our competition, actually some of us were not even aware of the fact that there would even be a contest taking place. After a wonderful dinner at Viewpoint Brewing and a few servings of birdy juice, our fiery leader and self appointed team captain (Nan) stoked the flames of competition. She claimed that team members Gio, Eddy, and Lucas would win in a putting contest versus Kevin, Alicia, Peter, and Kellen. The lowest total team score (pulling the best 3 scores from the larger team) would win the match up and claim bragging rights, and less important some tools and gift cards.

While in the real Ryder Cup the young guns rose to the occasion and let their older counterparts know that their reign was finished, the Del Mar Ryder cup the script was flipped. Over the course of 18 holes, experience trumped over youth. Thanks to conservative play and consistent two-putts the victory was safely in the hands of the team the Nan rooted against. However it could be said that performance of the night went to Newest team member and mini-golf rookie Eddie for having two hole-in-ones! Gio pitched in with one as well while the old guys ended the night with zero. All in all it was a great night for Kohler and as always a great night in North County.
